He was educated at the Doon School ,Dehra Doon, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and had a brief stint at Harvard University. He was a Senior Economist with the NCAER in Delhi and worked on the 3rd Five Year Plan in 60/61. Thereafter he founded Phenoweld Polymer Pvt. Ltd. to make world class plumbing products. His brand Commander is known for its engineering excelence. With globalization his company brought into India international brands like Geberit,Pressalit and Agrop. He writes standards for the ISI and is a Member of CD 3:2 of the ISI. He is also Vice President of the IPA

Saturday Afternoon with Tiger at football. 22/7/2010.

Rains, Rains and more Rains. We will play...

Right place.. Quick turn. Strong kick at mid goal height. Tiger scored in the first 10 minutes. Second goal. Ball almost motionless in front of opponents goal. A nudge or was it a self inflicted goal and Tiger got their second goal. Tiger won 2-0.

Bernard, Tigers Coach follows the Euro method of strong defence and attack by rapidly moving the middle players up and down. “beech me parr jao…..”. Get into the middle of the ball and the player. “ andar dalo….” Put the ball in the middle do not hold onto it at the sides. . Today was Bernards birthday. Birdys Choclate cake. We sang happy birthday Bernard. Shy, he would not take a ride to Bandra. Said the train will be faster. I left him in his yellow raincoat.

Harleen, 23 yrs old, almond eyed, fair skinned Sikh girl. She lives in Sherleys building and helps with Tiger. Attendance, stores, snacks. She is a brother to the team of 22 Tigers. Tomboy. She shouts for Tiger and claps vigorously when we score. .She was brought up by Uncle and Grandparents. They denied her nothing. She carrys no scars or baggage. All the boys must be thinking that a Goddess has descended in Parel.

Given the increasing challenges to children’s lives and the increasingly more complex sets of skills and abilities that are required for success in the workplace of the twenty-first century, we may need to revisit how and where we make investments in our children

The Raichel Joseph Sports Foundation, founded on Aug 2010, has a vision of bringing about a paradigm shift in the mindset of young people growing up in India’s weaker section of the society. Our program helps them understand their own ability and responsibility to radically change their communities and create a strong and aware society. RJF is a not-for-profit organization in India that believes in the child’s right to play (declared by UN).

Goals:

1. To reinstate the Child’s right to Play and Promote Gender Equality
2. Build Life Skills
3. Promoting social interactions through sporting opportunities by giving exposure to excellence and fair play
4. Grooming the youth to be Leaders of tomorrow
5. Empower every individually to become financially self-reliant

The Project

Understanding the importance of “sense of belonging” we have identified 40 of the best players over the last 2 years and formed 2 teams – u 17 & open team.

The training helps them to face challenges, builds self esteem and appreciate Team Spirit!

Today they have qualified to be a part of the MDFA division 3 and been invited to play at the National Level Chandigarh tournament which itself is a benchmark of their abilities/skills.

With the football season starting we need to focus on intensive training, better nutritution and football gear for these students to take them to the next level.

The training is held in the PM Mhatre Ground, Juhu.

Technical support to train the teams is provided by The Indian Tigers Football Alliance and Chelsea Old Boys Club UK

Program Development: 

• Monitoring and Evaluation:RJF is pioneering the development of programs to address issues of personal and social development through sport and is also leading the field in terms of the development of a monitoring and evaluation tool to help organizations such as ourselves understand and evaluate impact.
• We aim to create a socially sustainable and scalable model in all our projects and empower participants to adapt the RJF model in their sphere of work.
